The problem we saw firsthand
Most rainwater systems fail not because rain is unreliable but because the systems themselves are. Property owners often struggle with:
Dirty or smelly stored water
Standing water trapped in pipes
Clogged gutters and downspouts
Constant manual maintenance
These problems are especially common in rural and Hill Country properties, where elevation changes, trees, and limited infrastructure add complexity. For many people, rainwater collection starts with good intentions and ends in frustration.
[The Solution]
How Rainwater Specialists Approaches The Solution
01
Design for Real Conditions
Every system is engineered for site-specific challenges like terrain, roof layout, rainfall patterns, and access to power.
02
Automate What Causes Problems
We reduce manual intervention by automating system functions that typically lead to maintenance and water quality issues.
03
Build for Longevity
Our systems are designed to perform consistently over time — not just immediately after installation.
The Outcomes Our Clients Experience
When a rainwater system is designed correctly, daily life changes in tangible ways. Clients experience:
- Cleaner, better-smelling stored water
- Less time spent maintaining their system
- Improved appliance and plumbing longevity
- Healthier plants and landscapes
- Greater confidence in their water supply
- Systems that work without constant oversight
[How The Company Began]
Introduction Through Experience, Not Theory
Scott Solkofske
Founder of Rainwaterspecialists
Rainwaterspecialists
While the benefits of rainwater were immediately clear softer water, healthier plants, better laundry, and a happier septic system the effort required to keep the system running was constant.
Scott repeatedly found himself thinking:
“This system can be better.”
- Extreme elevation changes
- Large heritage trees
- oorly assembled piping
- Frequent clogs and overflows
From Problem-Solving to System Design
Over time, Scott began redesigning and improving his own system. Through trial, error, and continuous refinement, he identified the same root problems that plague many rainwater systems:
Ineffective first-flush management
Standing water that degrades quality
Overly complex plumbing layouts
Systems needing manual oversight
With a background in healthcare and information technology, Scott approached these challenges with a focus on automation, reliability, and data-driven decision-making. The result was new rainwater collection technology — including automated first-flush control — that became the foundation of Rainwater Specialists today.
{What We Do Today}
Today, Rainwater Specialists designs and builds turnkey systems that support:
